Gordy's Marine in Fontana is holding its 8th annual Wakeboard Tournament Aug. 6 and 7.

— Competitors are preparing to show their stuff on the water at the 8th annual wakeboard tournament Aug. 6-7 at Gordy's Marine, 320 Lake St., in Fontana.

With four skill level categories--novice, intermediate, advanced and outlaw--the tournament is open to wake boarders with a range of experience.

Past years had a fifth category--women, but now men and women compete together, said Janie Gallagher of Gordy's Pro Shop.

Each competitor takes one scoring run each day. The top three finishers in each category will receive awards.

As of Thursday morning, 10 competitors had signed up, but organizers are expecting more.

"We get a majority of our entries on the day of the tournament," Gallaher said.

Registration closes Aug. 6 at 8:30 a.m.

Register prior to Aug. 6 for $20 and receive a free Gordy's sticker; register the day of the event for $30.

A complimentary spectator boat is available for family and friends to watch the tournament action.

To register or for more information, call Gordy's Pro Shop at (262) 275-2163, ext. 4 or go to www.gordysboats.com

Pro Shop hours are Sunday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
