Delavan Daze is a fun, artsy festival, which also will include chalk artists working on sidewalk art and free crafts for kids. At the turn of the last century Delavan was an art colony from 1895-1910. Students from the Chicago Art Institute came to Delavan to study. Downtown Delavan wants to re-create that art mecca again by attracting artists to the downtown. The public art project this year includes picnic baskets, which are on display and for sale throughout the downtown. Proceeds from the sale of the baskets help the DDHS Art Club. Two of these picnic baskets will be auctioned off at the Phoenix Park Band Shell Aug. 11.
There will be a flea market and crafts in Tower Park. The Friends of Aram Library will hold a book sale under the tent at the library. Bradley’s Department Store celebrates their 160th anniversary. Clown Alley performs throughout downtown. At the Phoenix Park Band Shell, there will be music and a Cruisin’ Car Show and Model Car Show.
