— Food Network fans have the chance to see a local native compete on the cooking show "Iron Chef America."

Milton High School graduate Scott Garthwaite, now a Las Vegas chef, will appear on an episode of the high-intensity cooking competition as an assistant to the show's main contestant, Shawn McClain.

The episode, which was filmed last year, airs at 9 p.m. Sunday on Food Network.

Garthwaite is Executive Sous-Chef at Sage, an American-Mediterranean restaurant at Aria Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas strip. Garthwaite works under McClain, who is the Executive Chef at Sage.

At Sage, Garthwaite is in charge of planning and designing items on the restaurant's menu.

A 2004 Milton High School Graduate, Garthwaite graduated with honors from the Culinary Institute of America in New York.

Garthwaite worked under McClain at the Chicago restaurant Spring until relocating to Las Vegas.
