— In the month of March, McHenry County ranked third highest in foreclosure of counties in Illinois, according to a story in the Northwest Herald.

The California-based RealtyTrac, an online database of foreclosure findings, default notices, and bank repossessions nationwide, revealed that one in every 191 housing units in McHenry County were foreclosed on, the story noted.

Nationwide, the RealtyTrac’s numbers show a 4 percent drop in foreclosures from February to March, and a 17 percent drop from March 2011.

But Illinois foreclosures actually increased 17 percent from last quarter, and 14 percent from the first quarter of last year, giving the state the nation’s third-highest state foreclosure total in the first quarter, with over 37,000 properties.
