EAST TROY -- The East Troy Electric Railroad Museum added five cars over the weekend thanks to a special run by the Canadian National Railroad.

The five South Shore Interurban left the area of Gary, Ind. and traveled on the Candian National system for the entire trip, writes Keith Schmidt on www.RailroadForums.com

The Candian National No. 9579 pulled the cars speeds close to 30 mph.

The train arrived in Mukwonago and the interchange track with East Troy museum around 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

The cars most recently were owned by the National Park Service, which did some restoration on a couple of cars.

The museum hopes to get two or three cars running again with the other two to be used for parts.

After a while the L8 coupled to the string of cars to pull ahead so that the CN locomotive could leave and head back to Chicago running light. Then the L8 would pull the cars back to East Troy. I wasn't able to stay for that, but was glad I was in the park for the arrival of the latest equipment added to the East Troy collection.
