A weekend fire in Beloit has officials urging homeowners to check the safety of their heating systems.
As cooler fall weather prompts us to turn on the furnace, or stoke up the fireplace, Janesville Fire Shift Commander Scott Morovits says this is a good time to ensure everything is working properly. He says we often take these systems for granted, because they were working fine at the end of last season. After several months of dormancy though, repairs might be needed.
The fire in Beloit over the weekend is being blamed on a faulty furnace.
