— A Genoa City woman will get some help in her 4-1/2 year battle with liver failure when the Genoa City Lions Club hosts a fundraiser Nov. 6 at Badger High School.

Brynn Thornburgh, 26, currently is at the top of the transplant list, but has incurred numerous medical bills since she was first diagnosed with liver failure.

All proceeds from the event will be used to pay some of those bills.

The fundraiser is being organized by some of the many community members who have rallied around Thornburgh during her illness.

Thornburgh's mother, and primary caregiver, Patsy Thornburgh, recently was named a local winner of the Homewatch CareGivers National Family Caregiver of the Year Award.

All local winners are awarded a scholarship to Homewatch CareGivers University and are considered semifinalists for the National Family Caregiver of the Year and a $5,000 grand prize.

The national winner will be selected October 25 by a panel of experts from healthcare-related organizations.

Donations can be made to the Genoa City Lions Club, N1798 North Daisy Dr., Genoa City, 53128 or to the Brynn Thornburgh Benefit Fund, P.O. Box 275, Twin Lakes, 53181.
