Plans to renovate a historic building in downtown Janesville may be headed back to the drawing board.

Renovation plans for Lovejoy Manor on St. Lawrence Avenue have been in the works for years. Manager of Building and Development Services for the city, Gale Price, says the owner has been attempting to work with the city on the renovation. The deadline to start construction was Tuesday however. The goal was to transform the property into an assisted living facility.

The owner had sparked a debate in Janesville by removing historical details from the building during previous renovations.
