ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 83

Scott L. Gunderson (I) 7,182

Aaron Robertson 1,911

WATERFORD -- Republican incumbent Scott Gunderson captured by a wide margin another term in the state Assembly.

Gunderson defeated Democrat Aaron Robertson who mounted a second campaign against the veteran assemblyman but failed to gain much ground in his recent bid to unseat the incumbent.

Gunderson easily captured the village of East Troy and East Troy Township in Walworth County, Waukesha and Racine counties, all of which are in the 83rd Assembly District.

Gunderson Tuesday evening explained his victory in simple terms – voters believe he will make the right moves in Madison.

“I think what it comes down to is the level of trust between my constituents and myself, Gunderson said. “They trust me to do the right thing in Madison.”

Gunderson he is extremely honored to the elected to Madison for a ninth time.

“I think this election is a mandate for all politicians to understand that people are listening, watching and paying attention to what’s going on and saying that we have to go in a different direction,” Gunderson said.

“Politicians have to make the tough decisions to balance the budget, cut spending and not raise taxes.”

Prior to the election, Gunderson preached about the need to create jobs by reducing the tax burden on families and businesses and reduce bureaucracy for businesses to locate here.

Gunderson also supports a governmental budgeting process that assumes all budgets begin at zero and not at the level of previous resources.
