MILWAUKEE -- Judging is currently taking place for the top news photographs of the year at the Wisconsin News Photographer Association's annual Picture of the Year Contest.

The contest is part of the professional association's annual convention, held March 11-13, 2010 in Milwaukee.

In student judging yesterday, Jeff Schorfheide of the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Badger Herald is the 2009 WNPA Student Photographer of the Year.
