— Brewer left fielder Ryan Braun's name will grace the front of a new Milwaukee restaurant, even as work continues on the Ryan Braun Tavern and Grill in Lake Geneva.

The Brew Beat blog reports that Ryan Braun's Waterfront Grill will soon take over the space currently occupied by Fratellos Waterfront Restaurant, 102 N. Water St. in Milwaukee's historic Third Ward.

Madison-based lawyer Patrick Sweeney reported that he finalized a lease on Monday, and the aggressive plan is to open to the public by Monday, April 5.

However, Braun's agent, Nez Balelo of Creative Artists Agency, told Brew Beat the deal was not quite final.

A week ago, Braun revealed that progress on is Lake Geneva restaurant planned for the former Cactus Club has been slow.

Sweeney originally had predicted a grand opening in April, but that now appears to be in doubt.

Braun is working with business executives from Lake Geneva, Milwaukee, Madison and Chicago, Sweeney said.

The group developed a concept for an American bar and grill with good food, reasonable prices and a comfortable atmosphere, Sweeney said.

They recruited Braun as a way to help get people in the door, Sweeney said.

I disagree. Braun will go the way of Tony Gwynn, Cal Ripken, and Robin Yount -- he will be on one club for life. Prince Fielder, on the other hand...he'll be trade bait for prospects in July.

By the time these restaurants open, if they ever do, Braun will be playing for another club.
