— A dog found abandoned in a dumpster behind a Kenosha grocery store has found a new home thanks to a soft-hearted employee at the Kenosha Public Safety Building.

The employee took in the dog, which quickly became known as Nala the SuperValu Dog, a week after truck drivers found it behind the store on 80th St.

“She’s safe. She’s home,” the woman told the Kenosha News. She declined to be identified.

When the sharpei-mix was found at about 3 a.m. Feb. 22, she was wearing a nylon collar but no tags, lying in a small cardboard box and was wrapped in blankets.

The temperature was 32 degrees, and she had no food or water. The dog was shaking from cold and was bloated, apparently from not eating, her new owner told the newspaper.

I don't get it. Why would somebody wrap a dog in blankets and put it in a box only to throw it in a dumpster? People are just plain nuts!

I hope that there is a special place in hell for people who treat animals so badly.
