EAGLE (AP) -- Old World Wisconsin will reopen with a celebration July 24, officials at the Wisconsin Historical Society announced Friday.

The sprawling collection of settler-era villages in Eagle sustained so much damage from a June 21 tornado that site officials closed the attraction for weeks to clean it up.

The reopening coincides with the site's Laura Ingalls Wilder Days and Farm Power event. Site Director Dawn St. George says the event dovetails perfectly with the reopening since Ingalls Wilder's "Little House" books focus on overcoming obstacles.

Activities will include jumping in a haystack, churning butter and a barn dance on Saturday. Site officials hope for a big turnout throughout the summer since the attraction took a financial hit while it was closed.
