— Rep. Kim Hixson, D-Whitewater, says he will not seek to replace state Sen. Judy Robson, D-Beloit, in the 15th Senate district. The district includes the city of Whitewater as well as Whitewater and Richmond townships in Walworth County.

Hixson said he had been encouraged to run, but with the announcement that Tim Cullen of Janesville will likely run for the Democrats, Hixson has decided against a bid.

"One of the considerations I was looking at was whether or not we were going to have a strong candidate on the Democratic side," Hixson said.

"I think we've got a strong candidate so I'm happy to run for re-election in the 43rd."

Cullen has not officially filed for candidacy but is expected to face Republican Rick Richard, who announced last summer that he was running.

Hixson is up for election Nov. 2 and is being challenged by Independent Matt Gaboda of Center Township.

Hixson, too bad you didn't stay with your first decision to not run again.
