3:00 p.m., Feb. 6, 2010 -- “Egrets” by the Wisconsin team of Tom Queoff, Mike Martino and Mike Sponholz won the first-place award Saturday at the U.S. Snow Sculpting Championships in Lake Geneva. The winner is chosen by fellow competitors.

Second place and Gene Kempfer People’s Choice Award went to Team Michigan — Luke Dehtiar, Max Dethiar and Ryan Olszowy — for “If I Only Had a Brain.”

Third place went to another Team Wisconsin, with “Parenthood,” created by Jeff Shawhan, Brett Tomczak and Jim Malkowski.

Bill Brown says teammate Randall Tackett slipped and fell coming to the site the first day. By today, he couldn't move, so he spent the morning in the emergency room.
