Mauermann helps Jets defeat Chill

JANESVILLE — The Janesville Jets got an early start to their holiday celebration.

Ross Mauermann again led the way here Sunday as Janesville completed the pre-Christmas portion of its North American Hockey League schedule with 5-2 win over the Coulee Region Chill, giving the Jets a three-game weekend sweep.

Mauermann followed Saturday night’s hat trick in an 8-0 win over Chicago with two more goals and an assist to help Janesville dominate Coulee Region in an inter-division game. Mauermann scored on a two-assist power play at 3:17 and on assist from Jordan Tredinnick at 9:13 to the spark the Jets’ four-goal first period.

The two goals gave Mauermann a team-leading 15 for the season.

After getting an assist on Mauermann’s first goal of the day, Joe Horak scored the period’s final goal on assists from John Houston and Mauermann at 11:45, making it 4-0. John Olen had the period’s other goal on assists from Will Preston and Larkin Jacobson at 6:38.

Coulee Region outshot the Jets, 30-29, but Janesville goalie David Jacobson notched 28 saves in getting the victory. The Cool’s final goal came in the third period after Lucas Dillon had given the Jets a 5-1 lead on a two-assist power play at 12:31 of the second period.

Janesville improved to 17-10-2 in the Central Division, while Coulee Region fell to 16-9-2 in the Central.

Both teams are idle until they meet on Friday, Dec. 31, at Onalaska.
