SHARON Voters on Tuesday night soundly passed a $5.98 million referendum for improvements at Sharon Community School.
The referendum passed 224-143, Administrator Steve Huebbe said.
“The school board as guardians of the district need to follow through with this directive and continue plans to maintain the school,” Huebbe said.
The school board in February decided to ask voters for permission to take out a loan for security and energy efficiency upgrades at the school.
Plans include repairs to the school’s roof and exterior, reconfiguring the entrance and replacing the original wood floors in the portion of the school that was built in 1935.
Workers will build handicapped accessible bathrooms and making other accessibility improvements.

I don't normally post, but I wanted to make it clear as Village President the Village of Sharon NEVER made an offer to the school. I just wanted to make that clear. It was never even a discussion that was held.
Thank you, Diana Dykstra

Just letting you know the offer was made from the village about the land-just ask them.

Putting it out there would be great....Then we could buy more busses and more drivers....Look at all the savings there. Then sometime if ever there is a industrial park out there the school would be in the middle of it. Also the people in charge of it may have done Miller Park, but they have also done several schools!

Could have gotten it from the industrial park that is sitting vacant. Good job buying that one up.
Why does the beautiful wood floor from 1935 need to be tore up?
And the new entrance is going to take away the parking lot. Just heard that they hired the consultants that did Miller Park-could they find anyone close by that knew schools and area? The kids are all joking about the retractable roof.
