August files for 32nd Assembly primary recount

WALWORTH COUNTY -- Republican 32nd Assembly candidate Tyler August on Monday filed for a recount after falling just four votes shy of winning his party’s nomination last week.

August said he filed the paperwork in Madison and a recount could take place sometime this week. All six candidates must first be notified and public notice given on when the recount will be held.


Adam Gibbs leads Tyler August 1,761 votes to 1,757. August said after the primary he would wait until the Walworth and Kenosha county canvassing boards adjourned to make a decision.

Recount likely in 32nd Assembly primary race

WALWORTH COUNTY -- “As of now, I plan on doing it,” Tyler August told the Kenosha News at a GOP fundraiser Saturday in Kenosha County. “It would be unlikely I wouldn’t, but until I sign on the dotted line, I can’t say definitely.”


August was defeated by Adam Gibbs in Tuesday’s primary. After the Walworth County vote was certified Friday, Gibbs held a four-vote lead, 1,761 to 1,757.

Whitewater dedicating baseball field to 6-year-old crash victim

WHITEWATER -- A baseball field planned at Starin Park in Whitewater will be dedicated to the 6-year-old victim of an apparent drunken driving accident earlier this month.

Treyton Kilar was killed Sept. 2 in a crash at the intersection of Highway 20 and County N in Walworth County. He was heavily involved in parks and recreation sports and dreamed of playing professional baseball, according to a news release Friday.




Plans for the new diamond include a 225- to 250-foot youth field with concrete block dugouts, bleachers and a scoreboard. Depending on funding, it also may include lighting and a restroom and concession building.
