DELAVAN -- Scarecrow Fest, the family-oriented, small-town festival held in downtown Delavan for the past nine years will take place Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009.
Visitors can vote on scarecrows designed by local businesses and community groups. The scarecrows are on display on light poles throughout downtown.

The event features music, carriage rides, a craft show and flea market, sidewalk sales, Build-A-Scarecrow and the famous Delavan Duck Race.
In the duck race, 1,500 numbered rubber ducks are dumped into Swan Creek.
Each duck corresponds to a raffle ticket, and the first duck to cross the finish line wins $200.
Historic downtown Delavan features its historic downtown shopping district, home to many wonderful casual restaurants, antique shops, and specialty shops. Delavan's small town charm will be on display during downtowns Scarecrow Fest.
Schedule:
Water Tower Park:
8 a.m.- 4p.m.: Craft fair and flea market. Food.
8 a.m.- 4p.m.: Bouncing castle for kids. Free.
11:30 a.m.: True story of "Romeo" the circus elephant told by Mrs. Delavan
1p.m.- 3p.m.: Free children's face painting.
noon- 2p.m.: Free horse-drawn carriage rides.
1p.m.- 3p.m.: Free pumpkin painting
South corner of Second and Walworth:
11a.m.-1p.m.: Build a scarecrow and take it home. Nominal fee.
Helpers will provide supplies to make a scarecrows. Great for the whole family.
North Corner of Third and Walworth:
11a.m.-2p.m.: Live music
Other activities:
2:30p.m.: Duck Race- you could win $200
(Swan Creek and Walworth Ave., near Mill Pond)
8a.m.-4p.m.: Sidewalk sales by Delavan merchants
Scarecrows will be "On Parade" in Historic downtown Delavan through early October.
