ELKHORN -- If you're not into the flea markets, you're probably unaware of the reputation that the Elkhorn Antique Flea Market has in the Midwest.

But for those in the know, it is the place to be Sunday, June 28, 2009.

Among those traveling to the Walworth County Fairgrounds in Elkhorn will be the Iowa Junk Gypsies.

In a post on their blog, the gypsies write that they will bring, "lots of sign letters, books, a couple tables, concrete lady statue, red/white quilt, mini doll dresser, ironstone small pitchers...great stuff we've gathered.

"We'll be at the same spot -- booth 518 -- just down from the bakery stand ( the hugest cream puffs ever) and plan to set up Saturday afternoon.

The gypsies describe themselves as two friends who love junking and antiquing. Judy was a florist and Anita owned a gift shop, but they both got tired of the long hours and being captive at the store.

They decided to break free, and now travel to nearby states to sell junk they have gathered to new friends.

The Elkhorn Antique Flea Market, June 28, at the Walworth County Fairgrounds, 411 E. Court St. (Highway 11), Elkhorn. Admission is $4, and the gates open at 7 a.m., rain or shine, more than 500 vendors inside and out, food. Please leave pets at home. (414) 525-0820, www.nlpromotionsllc.com.
