— Three East Troy High School students are dead following a two-vehicle crash Thursday evening.

East Troy Township police identified the victims as Shanna L. Kuznicki, 17, Lauryn K. Mustain, 17 and Steven J. Wosinski, 17.

Andrew A. Bohmann, 17, remains hospitalized.

The wreck happened about 5:15 p.m. Thursday on County Highway ES near Highway J in East Troy Township.

Michael Smith, a crash reconstruction specialist with the Wisconsin State Patrol, said that four people in a Toyota Corolla were traveling northbound on County Highway ES when the vehicle slid sideways and struck the front of a BMW traveling southbound.

One passenger in the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene. The other three were taken to the hospital, Smith said.

The second victim died at the hospital last night, and a third died this morning.

Injured in the BMW were 16-year-old driver Cori Waki and her 16-year-old passenger Rebecca M. Schicantek. The two also attend East Troy High School.

Smith said the engine of the BMW absorbed most of the impact. The Toyota made impact on the side of the car and didn't have as much protection, he said.

Smith said weather could be a contributing factor to the crash. State Patrol officials are still investigating the accident, he said

And I'm sure their families are reading this, I know I am. Frankly it doesn't matter what they were driving what's done is done leave it at that. And nothing is HILARIOUS about this I can't believe how cruel and...CHILDISH some people can be. And right around christmas time too! To those of you who took this seriously though thank you.

i was only about 5 minutes behind this accident and no matter what kind of car they would of been in, it wouldn't have mattered. ever go by an accident and know you can't help (there was already enough cars pulled over) and all you hear is crying for help and all you can see is a door torn off and that someone is stuck in the vehicle? and why in the hell do you GROWN ADULTS have to fight on these blogs when 3 teens you don't even know died. has it ever dawned on you that they have families and friends that sees this? don't you think they're suffering enough with out having to see all the childish writings you put up?

Toyota Corollas (last ten years) are among the safest cars out there. Very few cars have good side impact safety, though. Basically, there's no vehicle in which you'd be really safe taking a side impact at speed.

Kman, the article says nothing about the the make of the care having any affect on the outcome. All it states is the Toyota was sideways and the side of the car doesn't offer much protection vs. a front end accident. Duh.
.
Thoughts and prayers to the family, what a horrible time (not that any time is good) to lose loved ones.

This is really sad, and I hope everyone can remember what this story is about and not editorialize about irrelevant issues...not only the families will be in a lot of pain this season, but their community and school...So tragic.
