"Cal, Elkhorn, Wisconsin" from "The Bikeriders" by Danny Lyon --circa 1965-66, by Danny Lyon.

The latest post on The Selvedgeyard Blog takes a look at the iconic biker photography of Danny Lyon from the 1960s.

Lyon first made a name for himself covering the Southern Civil Rights movement and continued his documentary work with "The Bikeriders," in which he chronicled the travels of the Chicago Outlaws motorcycle club.

Apparently, those travels took him through Elkhorn in the mid-1960s, where he took the photograph above.

He also produced "The Destruction of Lower Manhattan," where he documented the large-scale demolition of our country’s greatest city back in 1967, and "Conversations with the Dead" in which he photographs and writes about Texas inmatess in six different prisons, Billy McCune in particular, over 14 months time.

The site also includes a tribute 50th anniversary tribute to "The Americans," Robert Frank's ground-breaking documentary photography book.
